Hei cha' black tea (oxidised and fermented, but not from Yunnan) from Gangxi, this tea has been made following the pu erh “shu” stages and then matured for seven years in tropical wooden chests to enhance its aroma. The result is a more complex, fuller-bodied tea that remains particularly mild and bitter-free, even after prolonged infusion. As with smoked teas, maturing in wooden cases adds a dominant flavour that may be disconcerting at first, but could well become addictive. Brewing instructions: 3 to 5 minutes.
